Although some states withhold a portion of the unemployment benefits so recipients don’t get hit with a huge tax bill, it is not a requirement by all. This means that you may be responsible for taxes on the full amount on your benefits. Fortunately, there may be a few deductions and tax credits that may offset any taxes you may owe and increase your refund.

Job Search: If you have been looking for a job in your most current profession than certain expenses can be deducted. Similar job titles in various industries would meet the criteria. A few examples of these would be occupations like customer service manager and administrative assistant. Costs that you may have incurred in a job search in switching professions may not apply. For instance, being an elementary school gym teacher and then switching careers to become a restaurant chef would not be acceptable.You cannot claim items such as the cost of an interview suit, pre-interview haircut/hairdo or manicure. You should look through your records to see if you had any expenses that were not reimbursed by your former employer, union dues, professional organization dues/fees (i.e.: conferences/seminars). The world’s largest day to fly is Wednesday. The other cheapest days are Tuesday and Saturday. Although the weekend is the most expensive days to travel, Saturday is one of the slowest days for purchasing airline tickets. Contrary to belief, Saturday sells half the amount of tickets sold on Tuesday.

Best Times to Purchase Tickets:

The best time to purchase tickets is on Tuesday at 3:00pm. The best time to fly is typically the very first flight out in the morning so that may mean you have to be up by 4:00 am. Following early morning, the fights during/after lunch and at dinner are the absolute cheapest times to purchase tickets.

Kelly Williams-Bolar has been sent to jail in Akron, Ohio for using her father’s address and enrolling her daughters in high-achieving schools.  Williams-Bolar was convicted of falsifying residency records and Judge Patricia Cosgrove suspended the five-year prison term in favor of a 10 day jail sentence. The mother of 2 was also given 3 years of probation upon her release, 80 hours of community service and ordered to reimburse the school $30,000.  The quality of this mother’s life and her children lives will surely suffer as a result of all of this. Williams-Bolar, 40, is a single mother, student at Akron University and a teaching assistant to special needs children. The hard working mother who was only 12 credits shy of her teaching degree will no longer be able to achieve her dream of becoming a teacher with a 3^rd degree felony or keep her job. Montgomery, Alabama Law Firm Beasley, Allen, Crow Methvin, Portus & Miles have filed a consumer rights class-action lawsuit against Taco Bell Corporation on Friday, January 21, 2010. The lawsuit filed in California Federal Court by the Montgomery firm was on behalf of all consumers for false advertising. Apparently Taco Bell aka Taco Hell may not be offering 100% meat in their burritos like they claim too. Now don’t you wonder how Te Quiero Taco Bell was offering 100% USDA-inspected beef in a burrito for 79 cents in an economy where McDonalds has to raise their menu prices (Mickey D’s announced that on Monday,1/24/10) because of the rising cost of beef. Things that make you go umm right?
