WTF: Egyptian Man Names Baby “Facebook”

A young man in his twenties wanted to express his gratitude about the victories the youth of 25th of January have achieved and chose to express it in the form of naming his firstborn girl “Facebook” Jamal Ibrahim (his name.) The girl’s family, friends, and neighbors in the Ibrahimya region gathered around the new born to express their continuing support for the revolution that started on Facebook. “Facebook” received many gifts from the youth who were overjoyed by her arrival and the new name. A name [Facebook] that shocked the entire world.

There are five million Facebook users in Egypt, more so than any other country in the Middle East/North Africa region. Facebook itself has reported an increase in Egyptian users in the past month, with 32,000 Facebook groups and 14,000 pages created in the two weeks after January 25th.

While the baby girl could just have easily been called “YouTube,” “Twitter” “Google” or even “Cellphone Camera,” it seems like Facebook has become the umbrella symbol for how social media can spread the message of freedom. There are countless manefestation of this, the above graffiti in Cairo, “Thank you Facebook” protest sign, and Wael Ghonim himself personally expressing his gratitude to Mark Zuckerberg on CNN.

Since the early 2000′s, Argintina has been victim to Paco and his trail of misery. Paco is a drug that is normally made of cocaine paste, kerosene, rat poison, glass, and sulphuric acid. The high, which only last a couple of seconds, is so overwhelmingly intense that instant depression occurs once the high is gone.  Normal addicts take an average of 100 hits a day. Why do you think this drug is so popular? Could it be that it only cost 2 or 3 pesos per hit? That would be a rough 30 cents a hit. So this poor mans drug is affordable, in the beginning at least. Butt Naked Robber

Imagine walking into your first floor apartment , at 5 in the morning, after an eleven hour shift waiting tables in 6-inch heels to a butt naked stranger sitting on your sofa. What would be your first reaction? Well, a 21 year old Old Dominion student was frozen in disbelief when she got home early Sunday morning. She immediately called police and reported an intruder in her home. The victim, who will remain nameless, had never seen the perpetrator before so she asked him who he was and who he was there to see.   In return, he gave her no answer. Instead, he asked where his maintenance key was, put his pants on and walked out the door. He vandalized the victims room, stole the cash out of her wallet and took her roommate’s spare car key. A police report has been filed. There was no proof of forced entry, so how the delusional man got into the apartment is still unclear.

How would you handle having your child pull out their math homework and had to answer questions like  ”Each tree had 56 oranges. If eight slaves pick them equally, then how much would each slave pick?” or ”If Frederick (who on earth could they be talking about?) got two beatings per day, how many beatings did he get in one week?”In Gwinnett County, Florida, 8 year old children were being taught the basic fundamentals of math with questions like those. Gwinnett Country School District representative, Sloan Roach, stated that they attempted this method of learning to ‘incorporate social studies into the math problems.”

David and Catherine Birnie, Serial Murders

“This vicious and soulless Australian couple kidnapped and abducted 5 women ranging in age from 15 to 35 in their home in the 1980s. They repeatedly raped them and brutally killed 4 of them. The way they raped and killed these women was extremely inhuman, vicious and brutal. They buried them in a forest. Their final and the only victim to survive their attacks was seventeen-year-old Kate Moir. She managed to escape and contacted the police. He pleaded guilty. When asked why he pleaded guilty, he pointed toward the victims’ families and said, “It’s the least I could do.” He was sentenced to four consecutive sentences of life imprisonment along with Catherine. He committed suicide by hanging in his cell in 2005. Catherine is still in the prison under the orders ‘never to be released’.”

Man Hides a Gun in His Rectum While in Jail

JACKSONVILLE, NC – A man wanted for murder in the Atlanta area was found with a gun in his jail cell, and lawmen believe he had that weapon hidden in his rectum when he was booked into jail. Michael Ward remains in the Onslow County jail after his arrest Monday morning. Deputies say the gun measures 10 inches, including a  4-1/2 inch barrel. Deputies say that Ward was searched and strip searched before he was placed into a holding cell. Jailers also made Ward perform what they call a “squat and cough” procedure. Ward will undergo a search again today, as well as a medical evaluation at Onslow Memorial Hospital to make sure that no injury occurred. Deputies say the gun was not loaded, but later test fired and it was found to be fully operational.”

I’m not going to let the streets have my son

Dynesha Lax of Fort Wayne, Indiana is making headlines across the country after forcing her 14-year-old son to serve mom-ordered community service by holding a cardboard sign proclaiming” I lie, I steal, I sell drug, I don’t follow the law” for two hours on the side of a busy street.

ABC NEWS – “I’ve done therapy with my son. I’ve done positive reinforcement. I’ve done negative reinforcement. I’ve done mommy-and-me days. I’ve even called the police on him,” Lax said. “But everything seems to be taken lightly. Nobody is taking seriously that these are serious offenses.” She said he has been acting up since a young age and that while none of her responses have worked, she refused to give up. “He’s already lying, stealing, trying to sell drugs. We’ve got three-and-a-half years until I don’t have control anymore,” Lax said. “I’m not going to let the streets have my son.”

Lax also has a 16-year-old son with a 3.9 GPA who plays football, basketball and runs track. She said he has never been in trouble or even to the principal’s office. “Those are hard shoes to fill but we went through so much to let him know he doesn’t have to be the same,” Lax said. “But he has to follow the rules and follow the law.” When Lax sent her son from the family’s Fort Wayne, Ind., home to spend a few hours wearing the sign outside, someone called the police. When they arrived, she said, they told her that although her tactic was unconventional, it was not illegal.
