Yahoo Will Snitch On You for $60

On one hand, it’s reassuring to know that Yahoo will work with law enforcement to bust criminals, digging through their private messages to get the job done. On the other, $60 is a low price for our privacy.

For $20, Yahoo will give subpoena-wielding authorities your basic user ID information. For $30-$40, that jumps to the contents of subscriber accounts, including email. And for $60, police basically own the place. Full contents and logs of Yahoo Groups are at their disposal.

Of course, it’s good that Yahoo keeps these prices in check, only charging authorities cost for retrieving records (meaning your taxes pay Yahoo less than they could). Then again, it’s flat-out alarming to consider the data trail we all leave, its surprising permanence and the ease with which it can be accessed.

And if you really want to be freaked out, Cryptome is assembling these lawful spying policies by company. Their list already includes communication providers Cox, SBC, Sprint and AT&T.

Some interesting and intelligent content you have here on your site. I have several wordpress sites and like your theme. I do notice that you are not monetising your traffic to its maximum which is what I used to do until someone pointed out to me that you can actually earn yourself some decent amounts to help pay your hosting and domain fees etc. Looking at your Alexa rankings I can see you obtain some decent traffic which for very little work could help you out. I use this Wordpress Plugin which effectively turns words and phrases in all (or just some if you like) your content, making contexual links which your visitors will click upon. Take a look at it and see what I mean, I easily clear my hosting and other fees each month using this. Hope that helps you out – we fellow wordpress bloggers have to stick together!

  11. Apple has just announced the release of Ipad with competitive pricing and better features for their entry level model. Do you think this will affect the Amazon Kindle market? Many Thanks :)

  12. Ronja says:

Amazon will have to come up with something if they want to continue to dominate the market. Apple has raised the bar with the iPad hochgelegt quite so Amazon must erstmal can compete. Kindle users, I myself am very satisfied, but it will be difficult for Amazon.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.Have you tried the ipad? you can get one free at FreshGiftCard.com

  17. I’m sure I’m not in the minority by any means, but I do intend to improve. I suppose my main problem is that I find large numbers of comments overwhelming, I can honestly say that I’ve skipped reading entries at friends’ blogs, just because there’s already ninety comments on it, and I a) don’t want to get lost in the shuffle, or worse b) don’t want to be obligated to spew out forty comments of my own.
