Fugitives Lured with Money (duh!)

dragnetSome things should just go with out saying…BEWARE OF FREE GIFTS! especially if you have a warrant.  The lure of easy money will always catch some with their pants down but if you know you have a warrant for anything from traffic to murder and you are on the run-  you may want to think twice about showing up somewhere for something you didn’t solicit personally.

In Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Officers utilized a controversial  scheme to catch accused criminals during a sting operation.

Operation Show Me the Money took place over the course of two days. During the operation, 81 people came to War Memorial Auditorium thinking they would pick up a check for thousands of dollars. Seventy-six of those were taken to the main jail in Downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Fort Lauderdale Police Sgt. Frank Sousa explained how the plan worked: “You come here thinking you are receiving a check, you end up going to jail.”

The alleged criminals received a letter in the mail to come to the War Memorial Auditorium to receive a stimulus check, but when they got there on Wednesday, they got caught up in a police sting operation. As part of the operation, police took down people wanted for everything from attempted murder to battery.

One individual came with a firearm and a few others had narcotics on them… Of course people are angry and think the tactic was unfair but all is fair in love and catching criminals apparently. Don’t think this is just going on in Florida…coming to a city near you.
